 CALL TO ORDER

Mayor Trevino called the meeting of May 11, 2021 to order at 7:02 p.m.

NEW BUSINESS

Property Use Agreement with Yakima County

It was moved by Councilman Isiordia that the City of Granger enter into the Ballott Drop Box Property Use Agreement with Yakima County for the placement of said box at City Hall. Motion was seconded by Councilwoman Estrada.

Expenditure Request PW- Traffic Paint

It was moved by Councilwoman Guzman to approve the expenditure request for the traffic paint in the amount of $2,200 for the maintenance of the streets.   Motion was seconded by Councilwoman Sharp.

Granger Lions Club Supplemental Agreement

It was moved by Councilman Isiordia that the City of Granger accept and award the construction contract in the amount of $162,833.76 to Tri-Valley Construction for Phase 2 of the Dean Avenue Water Main Improvements.  Motion was seconded by Councilwomen Estrada.

MAYOR

Mayor Trevino informed Council that Representative Jeremie Dufault and Alex Regimbal had joined the meeting and that Representative Dufault was going to give a Legislative Update.

Mr. Dufault thanked Council for allowing him the floor and stated he was joining the meeting to give Council an update.  He stated that the legislative session ended on the 25th of April and gave him a brief synopsis on the bill that passed and would have an impact on the City.  He spoke of:

  • 11-37, which would pass more dollars from the State to City Governments for road preservation.
  • The decriminalization of drug possession law by making it legal to possess hard drugs such as meth, heroin etc. He informed Council that many cities are looking into or have adopted their own drug possession laws.
  • The Granger Historical Society received $300,00 from the Capital Budget for their project, which Senator Honeyford help them secure.

Mr. Dufault also informed Council of his and his assistant’s availability to meet with Council or to discuss future needs of the City. Mayor Trevino and Council thanked Mr. Dufault for attending the meeting and giving the update.
