CALL TO ORDER

Mayor Trevino called the meeting of May 10, 2022, to order at 7:00 p.m.

Mayor Trevino lead everyone in the flag salute.

NEW BUSINESS

Fire Department Request for Expenditure for a Computer

The Fire Department would like to request an expenditure of up to $1,400.00 to purchase a new computer and printer for use at the Fire Station. The fund for this expenditure would come out of the EMS Trauma Care Fund. The new computer equipment is needed for doing and retrieving reports and it will allow Officers to have their own files and emails for the department. The Training Division will be able to share training with the members. It was moved by Councilmember Munoz to approve the Fire Department Request for Expenditure in the amount of up to $1,400.00 to purchase a computer and printer for the Fire Station. Motion was seconded by Councilmember Isiordia.

Memorandum of Agreement and Letter of Agreement with Teamsters Local 760 regarding Juneteenth

The memorandum of Agreement and the Letter of Agreement from Teamsters Local 760, modifies and amends existing Collective Bargaining Agreements for the purpose of adding the Federal and State recognized Holiday of June 19th (Juneteenth) as a recognized holiday by the City. It was moved by Councilmember Bustamante to enter into the Memorandum of Agreement and Letter of Agreement between the City of Granger and Teamsters Union Local 760 adding June 19th (Juneteenth as a recognized Federal and State Holiday by the City. Motion was seconded by Councilmember Stonemetz.

Lease Agreement

A Lease Agreement between the City of Granger and Osler Orozco owner of El Sol to lease the property next door to his store located on Main Street. It was moved by Councilmember Munoz to enter into the Lease Agreement between the City of Granger and Osler Orozco, owner of El Sol, to lease the property next door to his store on Main Street. Motion was seconded by Councilmember Stonemetz.

HLA Recommendation of Award – Railroad Avenue Water Main

The bid opening for the Railroad Avenue Water Main was held on Friday, May 6, 2022 at 10 a.m. A total of 2 bids were received with the low bid of $194,104.08 being offered by Tri-Valley Construction, Inc of Yakima, Washington. The low bid is approximately one (1) percent below the Engineer’s Estimate of $195,415.20. It was moved by Councilmember Isiordia to accept the bid from Tri Valley Construction, Inc. of Yakima, Washington in the amount of $194,104.08 for the Railroad Avenue Water Main project. Motion was seconded by Councilmember Bustamante.

Mayor’s Proclamation – 53rd Annual Professional Municipal Clerks Week May 1-7, 2022

Mayor Trevino proclaimed the week of May 1-7, 2022 as the 53rd Annual Professional Municipal Clerks Week. He thanked Staff for all they do.

Mayor Trevino proclaimed the week of May 11-17, 2022 National Police Week. He thanked the Police Department for their service to the Community.

It was moved by Councilmember Isiordia to approve the minutes of April 26, 2022, as presented. Motion was seconded by Councilmember Munoz.

Confirmation Hearing – Kimberly Grimm, Interim Clerk-Treasurer

GMC 2.04.030 City Council to confirm appointment of the Interim City Clerk-Treasurer, Kimberly Grimm, Experience Letter and GMC 2.06.020 City Clerk. Kimberly Grimm introduced herself to Council and gave a brief work history. It was moved by Councilmember Munoz to confirm the appointment of Kimberly Grimm as the Interim City Clerk-Treasurer for the City of Granger. Motion was seconded by Councilmember Isiordia.

COUNCIL

None.

STAFF

Police Chief Araguz informed Council of a shooting that took place in town last Sunday. It is being investigated at this time and they are working closely with the complex where it occurred.

It was moved by Councilmember Isiordia to adjourn the meeting. Motion was seconded by Councilmember Bustamante.
